Dear Friends ~
It is because so many of you truly are friends, that I must share sad news...
In the early morning hours of Saturday March 25th, Steve Rye, co-founder of Sole Survivor unexpectedly suffered a major heart attack and is no longer with us. I realize this is surprising news. Steve was so full energy and enthusiasm that it is simply hard to imagine.
As we shared in a message at the beginning of the year, Steve began taking even more of a backseat to certain tasks as he spent every moment preparing us for the day he would no longer be here to guide us in our work. [none of us dreamed it would be so soon] Many of you have seen his workshop. Everything is labeled and orderly and Steve never stopped talking to us - telling us what each tool is for, how old it is and what it is worth on Ebay! In those last months and weeks, he began repeating stories and instructions over and over again. This repeating assures us that we are well prepared to carry on the work of Sole Survivor. But, naturally, we are devastated to lose our husband/father/friend and teacher. On Saturday April 22, 2023, from 1pm to 4pm, the family invites you to join us for an open house in Maplewood at the Focal Point as we remember Steve's life and times; his work, his family and friends.
Drop in anytime that suits your schedule. We look forward to hearing your stories and reflections on your friendship with Steve, loving Father, Husband and Friend.
Kay Rye Co-founder and Life partner of 44 years.
